The remnants of firecrackers, in small Hunan, China village, on the first day of Chinese Lunar New Year. In China the new year is called  Spring Festival. 2009 is the Year of the Ox. Children born under the ox sign will be quiet, dependable, and achieve great things through hard work.

  1. Wow, great photo. I was born under the ox sign. I am lazy and I can be pretty brazen (especially after a few ganbei’s). What do you have to say about that?

    1. Graham: There must have been sunspots or a celestial misalignment the day you were born. It sounds like you were born in the year of the pig. A temporal vortex perhaps?

  2. Erica: I was born during the year of the pig and that pretty much sums me up. Chinese astrology has a number of signs depending on the day and hour you were born, perhaps those are a better fit for you?
