It only took 23 hours to get back to my beloved Middle Kingdom<\/em>. The immigration official was very understanding of my two passports, the canceled passport containing my Chinese Resident Permit. We even shared a laugh about the woman in the next line answering her toddler’s questions.<\/p>\n

Child: What’s that?<\/p>\n

Mother: A device to rate the official’s performance.<\/p>\n

Child: What does that button do?<\/p>\n

Mother: You press it if the official is “good”.<\/p>\n

Child: What’s that one?<\/p>\n

Mother: It’s for “very good”.<\/p>\n

Child: Which one will you press?<\/p>\n

The conversation was amusing. The hangover I suffered from later, after many two-for-one happy hour beers, was not as amusing. Jet lag + hangoveredness = very bad.<\/p>\n
